The oldest and rarest Lagavulin. Read more..
Lagavulin 37 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the oldest and most prestigious release from the Islay distillery. The whisky was matured for nearly four decades in casks composed of American and European oak before being bottled at cask strength (102 proof). Only 1,868 bottles of this single malt have ever been produced.
Nose: Sensational and rounded. Aroma of dark chocolate, peat and ripe tropical fruits.
Palate: Touches of banana, charcoal, black tea and pine on the palate.
Finish: Slightly tart, beautiful finish.
TASTING NOTES
This is a venerable Lagavulin which immediately shows its age with a nose that mixes the savoury (hoisin sauce) with the mature notes of dunnage warehouse, sandalwood, and a minty lift. In time, there’s bog myrtle, old attics, rain-moistened wool, and a smokiness akin to a dead briar pipe. Slightly timid to start, it bursts mid-palate with lanolin and black olive brine, and a Darjeeling-like grippiness
